The Central Coast deserves a fighter in Congress. While Jimmy Panetta claims to embody progressive values, his record shows just the opposite: Panetta has time and again voted against the best interests of our district in order to give more power to the Trump administration, and corporate America. We, at Primary Panetta, believe that it is time for our congressperson to finally stand and defend his record to his constituents, rather than glide to Election Day without facing a serious challenger.

To this end, Primary Panetta was formed in 2025 to help build a coalition of progressive voices and organizations across CA-19 who could identify and ultimately  support the candidacy  of a strong progressive fighter for our district. Leading up to the primary election on June 2, 2026, we will work to publicly highlight the ways in which Panetta has betrayed the values of Central Coast residents, build a network of support for prospective candidates, and help recruit and identify the most viable primary challengers to go against Panetta.
